NASA Space Grant ESCAPE to Alaska Summer Camp The Alaska Space Grant Program in partnership with NASA invites students and teachers to a summer camp opportunity at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. ASGP/NASA will provide training and experiences for students and teachers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields. The camp is a one-week professional development program for educators of grades 7-12 and a one-week academic summer program for students entering grades 8-12 in the fall. Attendees have the opportunity to choose from two modules - "FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Training" and "Energy in Alaska." Camp sessions take place in mid-June. Applications are due June 4, 2011.

GEMS (Girls Exploring Math & Science) summer camp and we're rolling out the red carpet with this year's theme, "The Science & Adventure of the Movies." Our camp is for any girl, ages 8-13, to explore math, science, and technology through fun, interactive activities.

first real flight experience in this extensive introduction to the aviation industry. Participants receive ground training in our campus facilities, fly in our new C-172 Simulator, and pilot a C-172S aircraft. All flight training is conducted by certified university flight instructors. Participants in this program must be U.S. citizens ages 14-18.

The Great American Aero Derby (GAAD) is a competition designed to introduce students between the ages of 10 and 18 years to the exciting world of aviation. The competition is split into two categories based upon age. Scholarships and prizes will be awarded to students whose planes remain aloft the longest.
